Walkin' with a Mountain (Ian Hunter)

Background Information: Walking with a Mountain first appeared on Mad Shadows (1970). It also found it's way onto the compilations The Ballad of Mott (1993) and Backsliding Fearlessly (1994). A live version appeared on Ian Hunter's live double LP set, Welcome to the Club (1980).

A mountain train's coming down the tracks - she ain't wasting time,
She's following me, 'cos I'm going back, right to the end of the line,
She know's I ain't been anywhere,
Because I'll come back everytime to her.

Walking with a mountain,
Walking with a mountain.

The troubles and tears, I take 'em in years - I left so many behind,
Maybe it's strange to rearrange - who know's what I'll find,
But anything's better than the life I've known,
I can't face anything that low,

Walking with a mountain,
Walking with a mountain.

Insert guitar solo here.

Walking with a mountain,
Walking with a mountain.

Now when she talks to me, I can see just where I'm headed to,
She sits, drinks, takes it all in, just to admire the view,
But if I had my choice in life,
I'd take that woman for my wife.

Walking with a mountain,
Walking with a mountain.
Repeat Chorus several times.
Jumping jack flash, it's a gas,
Jumping jack flash, it's a gas.
