It looks as though FOX will not be carrying the series (yet) and one of the great Doctors, Jon Pertwee, has died. This is doubly sad for most of the fans I can imagin... especially for me. After contemplating the "end" of Doctor Who I got rather mad, but I did not know whom to direct my anger at for not giving us hope with a new series or more movies. While conteplating this I wondered why no "local" fan clubs dedicated to Doctor Who had made any efforts to try and drum up local support or try and contact anyone to direct me/others to write to FOX and Universal regarding a series. Then I had a thought, since the internet is world-wide why is there not a Doctor Who Fan Network? By network I mean a group of fans that help organize local clubs and local fans towards a common goal. I would like to get feedback from fans, fan clubs and anyone else that might be interested in trying to do this. I think if we all organize ourselves and direct our efforts to a common goal (such as a series and/or movies on FOX) I think the result of our efforts would be much greater. Common information on whom to write, call and email. Local groups collecting mail from local fans and mailing the letters. Members of the Doctor Who Fan Network that have web access could make information about such items available via their web. The addtion of any "high profile" persons related to Doctor Who, such as missing adventure/new adventure writters, could do nothing but help the project. Anything can offer something to this project, even if you send just a single letter or contact a single fan club with a plan... I think it could work! This is not a one person job, nor would it be easy... but I do not want to see the Doctor I know and love leave our TV screens again. If you have thoughts, information or just want to help lets try and ban together and ensure a future for our favorite Doctor. Email me at mwilson@flash.net. I know I hate feeling depressed about Doctor Who. Mike Wilson mwilson@flash.net http://www.drwho.org
